09 — Interview Q&A

Performance Marketing Interview Questions You Should Know

Whether you're preparing for a performance marketing role or exploring what MLP prepares you for, these are practical questions worth knowing.

My analysis

CPC is the cost of a click, CPA is the cost of a conversion, and ROAS compares revenue with advertising spend. Together, they show traffic cost, acquisition efficiency and revenue return.

Start with clear conversion tracking, then separate campaigns by intent and budget. Keep ad groups focused, align ads with search terms and review query quality before scaling.

Check tracking first, then review changes in spend mix, conversion rate, auction pressure, creative performance, landing pages and stock or pricing issues.

Attribution is the method used to decide which marketing touchpoint receives credit for a conversion. Different models assign that credit differently.

Define one variable to test, use a clear success metric, give the test enough time and budget to produce useful data, and apply a consistent decision rule.

Verify tracking, review traffic quality and search terms, check the offer and landing page, and identify where users are dropping before changing bids or budgets.

Protect the strongest conversion activity, reduce low-priority testing, consolidate where needed and reset expectations with stakeholders using the available data.

Clarify the objective, identify the audience and funnel stage, set assumptions, choose channels and metrics, then explain how you would test, measure and improve the plan.

Use evidence: explain a relevant project, the decision you made, the result or learning, and how your skills match the role rather than relying on enthusiasm alone.
